Personal Profile
Married with two daughters I have many interests outside of work including the theatre, reading, music and many sports. I have many passions in life but at the forefront of these are personal development and life-long learning. My library consists of literature by many inspirational figures such as Tony Robbins, Brian Tracey and Peter Drucker.
In my younger days I travelled extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East which exposed me to many different cultures and environments. I am a firm believer of Life is what you make it and this is a philosophy that I try to bring into both my personal and professional life.
As a former professional actor I appeared in programmes such as Brookside, The Grand and Bread. I have also been involved in a number of radio plays and corporate videos. To supplement my income I founded my own logistics company, and currently have a full Class 1 license, CPC certificate and full ADR credential.

Skills & Achievements in Career Guidance
During my time working with unemployed adults I trained as a psychometric practitioner and developed a bespoke workshop called ‘Food for Thought’. This creative seminar instilled the importance of a healthy lifestyle, which would ultimately act as a catalyst for future development in other areas of your life.
Following this I became the inaugural ‘Manchester Information Advice and Guidance Outreach Coordinator’. I was responsible for a team of advisors promoting learning and work opportunities. I also helped in the creation of the Manchester IAG network, which incorporated organisations from the public, private and voluntary sector. This included the likes of Manchester University Careers service and Job Centre Plus.
My degree and experience in the field of acting has also equipped me with the most important skill of all within career guidance. The communication skills that I developed during these years have allowed me to assist others in reaching their full potential and career goals.
Experience in Career Guidance
After University, I worked as a traditional school careers advisor. Followed by working on a project focussing on unemployed adults, which involved identifying motivational themes leading to finding employment or returning to education.
My work with adults expanded after being chosen to become the co-ordinator of the Manchester Information Advice and Guidance team. I was responsible for several outreach advisors, working with the private, public and voluntary sectors. I was on a number of forums involving careers guidance and looking at innovative approaches such as I.T, outreach venues and resources. More recently, I returned to working with young people and developed a number of work shops around careers choice and the value of lifelong learning.
